1. What made you want to compete?
I am the type of person who thrives on challenging myself intellectually and physically. I have been athletic my entire life, a part of various sports teams and an avid runner. After completing my goal of running my first marathon with Dana-Farber (Boston Marathon 2013), I wanted to set another goal and challenge myself in a different way. Seeing pictures of my friend Kayla in her competitions inspired me to embark on this new journey. Through Kayla, I also met Nicole Costa WBFF pro (both of them are my amazing coaches – owners of BodyRock!
2. What do you do to stay inspired?
I love inspirational quotes!!! Looking up inspirational quotes or reflecting on life’s challenges and the endless opportunities to make your life better keep me on track. Anything is possible if you put your mind to it and work hard, no matter what obstacles you have to overcome. I try to maintain a positive attitude and encourage others as much as possible, it makes me a happier person!! 🙂
3. What shows have you already been in or plan to be in in the future?
This is my very first show and I am beyond excited!!!! Go Team Body Rock! 😉
4. Who got you started?
Kayla & Nicole
5. Who do you look to for help now?
My coaches (Kayla & Nicole) and Body Rock teammates. As anyone competing knows, some days are more difficult than others. I’m very grateful to have met some great ladies (new friends!) – we have a phenomenal team who consistently motivate each other with phone calls/text messages (and when we meet every Saturday for our “booty” class).
6. Where do you usually workout?
Planet Fitness (Quincy) & Body Rock (Lincoln, RI) every Saturday for their “build a booty” class – highly recommended 🙂
7. Do you use any suppliments? If so, what ones (brands, names, etc)
Advocare- Catalyst & Spark energy drink, Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Whey Protein, Fish Oil, and a Multivitamin
8. What are your most noticeable results?
Abs & Back
9. Has fitness changed your life? If so, how?
I have been athletic my entire life, this was just a completely different challenge with the competition diet incorporated with lifting 4-5x a week and cardio.
10. What personal fitness goals have you set for yourself?
I completed my goal of running my first marathon this past April (Boston 2013) and I am signed up for next year already. I would also like to run the Chicago Marathon and Marine Corps Marathon in DC. I would like to train for a Duathlon and continue with future WBFF competitions as well 🙂
11. Describe your diet.
My competition diet has consisted of 6 meals per day (high protein/low carb/veggies). Now that it is close to the competition, my diet has altered a bit (5 meals per day and the carbs have reduced).
12. What does your workout schedule look like?
I lift 4-5 days/wk, Cardio 6 days/wk
13. What do you do for a living?
I have a BS in Psychology (2005) & recently completed a Nursing program (take my boards in a few weeks 🙂
14. What are your personal non-fitness goals?
I had thought awhile about a career change, and at age 30 I finally decided to go back to school FT for Nursing. I recently completed my program and take the boards in a few weeks. I am thrilled to start my new career path!!! No matter how old you are, it’s never too late to fulfill your dreams!! I took a huge leap of faith.

16. Here you can mention your family/thank you’s.
Thank you to my friends&family for supporting me in anything I set out to do…. and most importantly my coaches (Kayla & Nicole) and some of my teammates (whom I’ve formed close bonds with). I can’t picture what this experience would’ve been like without you ladies. Much love xoxo
17. Do you have any hobbies?
Outdoor running, lifting, hiking, any sport really I love being active (football, beach volleyball, etc). I am a diehard sports fan – especially the Red Sox & Patriots (I also have Celtics and Bruins love!!). I love to attend sporting events/tailgate, concerts, traveling, have an appreciation for photography, and spending time with friends and family.
18. What are challenges that you face that may keep you from reaching your fitness goals?
I think the biggest challenge with any fitness goal is setbacks due to injury or illness. Thankfully I have been healthy, but it can happen at any moment.
19. What obstacles have you overcome to be where you are?
I would have to say that my diet has been the biggest obstacle. I have never been on a diet my entire life (always ate whatever I wanted – in moderation of course). Constantly being cautious of what you’re eating, weighing out your food, eating every so many hours, and making sure you pack a cooler with you if you go anywhere is not easy. I have had so many cravings during this prep, thank God for that 1 cheat meal a week 🙂
20. Is there anything else you would like to add that you think we’ve missed?
Good luck to everyone: we have all worked extremely hard. Mental and physical toughness!!!
